55019 "Royal Highland Fusilier" passes Bishops Wood, near Selby with 1Z50 08.18 Kings Cross to Edinburgh, on the 23rd April 2005. This was the first sighting of a Deltic on the ECML for a couple of years and unfortunately the loco was declared a failure on arrival at Edinburgh and the train was hauled back to London by alternative traction.

55019 "Royal Highland Fusilier" passes Sowerby Bridge with a York to Carlisle VSOE (Northern) working, on the 9th June 1999. Deltics were a fairly regular sight in the Calder Valley at this time - something unheard of when they were in active BR service.

D9019 "Royal Highland Fusilier" passes Batley on the 28th December 2005 with 1Z45 09.22 Derby to Derby. It was heading for Copy Pit at this point, having just left Leeds. Typically no sun was to be had at Batley. Shame! Two guys in the train were having a good time though - braving the cold to "bash". One of them was a certain Mirfield-based website owner!

D9019 is seen north of Townsend Fold with the 3pm from Bury. The loco was at this time in "as built" livery without yellow ends or name. 18/6/95.

D9019 was posing as D9021 "Argyll & Sutherland Highlander" when it passed Bury North with the 11am to Rawtenstall on the 4th June 1996.

Deltics are noted for their clag and here 55016 "Gordon Highlander" does a creditable "kettle" impression as it heads away from Haworth (downhill) on the 6th November 1988.

Why does the sun never shine when a special train comes through Halifax! On this occasion, 11th August 2001, D9009 "Alycidon" is at the head of the DPS's "Mainline Tour No7" (great name), 1Z55 from Preston to Carlisle.
