158773 rushes past Astley Level Crossing on the 26th October 2003. It was forming 1M06 08.41 Sunderland to Liverpool Lime Street.

158808 leads another TP 158 downhill through Diggle with the 14.48 Sunderland to Liverpool Lime Street. 14/9/02.

20's were a frequent sight at Winwick on MGRs in the 80's. They were becoming more rare by the time I took this shot on the 23rd March 1991 though. 20113 and 20106 are the locos on a working from the now-closed Parkside Colliery.

31232 leaves Healey Mills Yard with an engineers train on 3rd October 1988. The 'Mills looks very busy at this time - I can count at least four Class 08 shunters in the picture, which presumably meant that quite a lot of shunting was still going on.

31404 climbs up to Cowburn Tunnel with a Liverpool to Sheffield train. 17/9/86.

31446 heads away from Cowburn Tunnel on the 17th September 1986 with 1M32 10.22 Sheffield to Liverpool.

37024 passes Heaton Lodge Junction,Mirfield with the fabled Saturday's only 1E45 11.45 Blackpool to Sheffield. 31/8/85.

37065 & 37051 climb through Buxworth Cutting with a Sunday morning civil engineers train on the 8th April 2001. The train was 7L90 12.00 Altrincham to Arpley, which was heading up to Peak Forest to run round. Good thrash!

37106 & 37154 pass Barnetby with a tank train, on the 13th July 1987.

37116 "Sister Dora" was one of my favourite Class 37s, because of it's non-standard blue Transrail livery. Here it's at the head of my favourite train - 6M90, passing Settle Junction on the 31st May 1997. There were about 5 or 6 charters past this location during the course of this particular afternoon. Pity that one of the southbound ones happened to pass 6M90 as I took this shot!

37131 and 37671 "Tre, Pol & Pen" pass Elmsfield with 6V41 16.30 Irvine to Burngullow on the 4th May 1993.

37407 "Blackpool Tower" and 37413 "Loch Eil Outward Bound" leave Milford with 6M90 on the 8th June 1996.

37407 "Blackpool Tower" is seen from above Great Rocks Tunnel on the morning of 1st May 1997. It was at the head of 6H66 Arpley to Dowlow Enterprise.

37408 "Loch Rannoch" passes Llandulas on the 10th August 1995, while at the head of 1D74 12.24 Crewe to Holyhead.

37408 is at the rear of 5C67 07.55 Knottingley to York passing Bolton Percy on 21st August 2004.

37517 and 37514 pass Holgate, York with 6M47 10.50 Lackenby to Corby. 23/2/88.

37669 nears Par with a rake of CDAs from Fowey. 6/6/89.

37706 pauses at Doncaster on the 30th January 1997, with a southbound Civil Engineers train

37710 having run round at Healey Mills, heads through Horbury Cutting on the 11th May 2001.

37897 is unusually on the fast lines through Mirfield, given it's about to head up the Calder Valley with a Lynemouth to Ellesmere Port "Cawoods" train. 6/11/89.

43084 "County of Derbyshire" stands at Leeds on the 28th January 1989. It was one of the HST power cars fitted with buffers in connection with the electrification of the ECML. The power cars so fitted were used as a kind of DVT at the opposite end to the electric loco.

47119 roars away from a signal check near Hallroyd Junction, Todmorden on the evening of 16th July 1990. It was in charge of 6E01 Stanlow to Humber tanks, the equivalent of which ran until relatively recently.

47237 has 47145 "Merdynn Emrys" dead in train as it passes Burton Salmon with 6V95 10:22 Stockton to Cardiff Tidal. 18/11/08.

47277 charges downgrade towards Hebden Bridge station with an early morning Stanlow to Leeds train on the 17th July 1989.

47286 heads through Heaton Lodge Jcn with an evening Crewe to Leeds 'liner. 28/7/92.

47318 passes the "Duke of Lancaster" near Mostyn with an Ashburys ARC Stone Terminal to Penmaenmawr working. This train ran under the auspices of "Tiger Rail" and only lasted for a short time. 06/04/88.

47402 "Gateshead" heads west through Mytholmroyd on the diverted 1M65 10.00 Newcastle to Liverpool Lime Street. 10/1/88.

47406 "Railriders" climbs up Heaton Lodge "dive-under" with 1E99 13.03 Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle on the 27th August 1987.

47411 crosses Saddleworth Viaduct with 1M52 14.20 Newcastle to Liverpool on the 11th June 1988.

47463 stands at Man Vic with the Glasgow newspaper train. 19/2/88.

47484 emerges from Whiteball Tunnel with a charter from Paddington on the 2nd May 1994.

47583 "County of Hertfordshire" was some way away from it's home depot of Old Oak Common when pictured at Smardale on the 23rd April 1988. The train was the 12.37 Carlisle to Leeds. The next train to follow this one was behind a pair of Class 50's also in NSE livery!

47609 "Firefly" is on 1M65 10.00 Newcastle to Liverpool, seen leaving Gledholt Tunnel, 25th October 1988.

47639 has just come to a halt at Preston with the 16.30 Blackpool to Euston. The train would then be re-engined with an electric for the rest of it's journey to London. 6th September 1989.

47743 "The Bobby" heads south at Swinton with 1V64 on the 2nd June 1995.

47749 "Atlantic College" heads south at Docker with two barrier vans, forming 6Z16 12.58 Polmadie to Washwood Heath. 11/4/01.

47814 "Totnes Castle" passes Sandal station with 1M67 Newcastle to Birmingham on the 20th July 2000.

47847 leaves Hellifield with 6Z50 09.45 Carlisle Yard to Shirebrook. 2/2/07.

47847 stands at Preston with the diverted 1M98 13.15 Edinburgh to Birmingham International on the 10th February 2002.

50031 "Hood" & 50049 "Defiance" pass flooded fields at Cononley with "The Airean Raider" - 1Z50 Cardiff Central to Leeds. 16/12/06 (2) This photo appears in the February 2007 edition of "Rail Express".

50049 "Defiance" & 50031 "Hood" pass Burton Lane Farm Crossing on the 13th July 2002 with the "Harrogate Hoovers" charter. This was the York to Reading leg of the tour.
